To mark 20 years since the “Miracle of Istanbul”, Liverpool FC and 1PointFive launched a world-first commemorative shirt whose carbon footprint is measured — and then removed. CarbonSig calculated the product carbon footprint behind it.

- The challenge
- Create a special-edition jersey whose carbon impact is credibly measured and then fully addressed: a world-first for football merchandise.
- What CarbonSig did
- Emissions data was collected and visualised across the supply chain using CarbonSig, and a life-cycle assessment in accordance with ISO 14067 estimated each product’s carbon footprint (PCF).
- The outcome
- Each shirt’s measured footprint is removed by an equivalent amount of CO₂ through 1PointFive’s Direct Air Capture technology. Liverpool FC joined organisations including Microsoft, Amazon and Airbus in using 1PointFive carbon removal.
